Health & Safety Management

The company has provided below facilities for workmen safety.

• The facility has a first aid & medical center in the yard in order to ensure that any incident or accident that might occur is attended immediately by personnel with relevant experience and adequate training. All staff / workers are having joining and leaving form available at Card Master office.
• Free RO Water facility and Free Electricity.
• Eye & Body wash facility
• Medical checkups for all the workforce is being done on regular basis.
• Training given to all workers about health and safety on regular basis
• The plat form areas are concreted to avoid any seepage of oil residues on the plates/pipes and other equipment.
• It is mandatory for all the workers to work only with Personal Protective Equipment, workers without PPE are not allowed to enter the recycling yard.
• Working at heights is allowed with prior permit and only with safety belts.
• Gas free and Hot work permit status is always displayed at various locations on board.
• All the workers / visitors going on board need to register their name at the entry of vessel with time details and same names are checked out while checking out of vessel.
• In order to prevent slipping and falling of workers and dropping or scattering of objects, the procedure for guarding of deck openings and deck edges, platforms, setting up personal fall arrest systems, guard rails, and access to ships is taken into account. An example of “working aloft permit” is provided inGear and equipment for rigging and material handling is tested at least annually if not required more frequently by national regulations or manufacturers manual.

HAZARD ANALYSIS

For each ship Hazard analysis is carried out and ship recycling operation is planned accordingly to avoid any accidents or incident with respect to Health and Safety of people working or visiting the yard of ship.

PPE USED IN VARIOUS PROCESSES

All the workers and staff members working in or visiting the yard are given personal protective equipment as per their job profile such as :

• Boiler suits
• Safety shoes
• Eye protection gears
• Gloves
• Non return valve based gas cutting equipment
• Dust control masks
• Asbestos-handling respiratory protective system
• Paint Mask
• Fire Protection Equipments

EQUIPMENTS & MACHINERY

• All the gears and open revolving machineries are adequately covered for the safety of workers around the machinery
• The wire ropes, fire fighting equipments, cutting tourch kept in good condition, safety requirements of the machinery/equipments should be compliance & should handled by workers with adequate training & PPE
• Trays are kept to store wire ropes to avoid land contamination
• Regular inspection is carried out by competent people
• Regular inspection/calibration of all tricical equipments and tools
• Electric transformers, Oil storage area, Scrap storage area are cordoned

CRANE SAFETY

• All the cranes are maintained in a good working condition
• Protective glass sheets are available on cranes
• Audible horns and other modes of communication between the crane driver and the guide are regularly maintained to avoid trips or fall of items carried by the crane
• Regular inspection is done with respect to load testing, hooks, and shackles by competent people
